Plan for the Ban

A new Stafford Township law, effective December 6, 2018, bans retailers from providing customers with free single-use plastic bags.

To comply with the ban, ShopRite of Manahawkin has discontinued the distribution of single-use plastic bags. Effective December 16, 2018, a reusable, recyclable plastic bag is available for $0.10 apiece for the convenience of in-store and ShopRite From Home customers who do not bring and use their own reusable bags to carry their groceries home. To help shoppers get used to the bag ban, from December 6-15, 2018, ShopRite of Manahawkin will provide all in-store and ShopRite from Home customers with free reusable plastic bags.

Effective December 16, all ShopRite from Home Delivery orders will be assessed a charge of $0.10 per bag. ShopRite of Manahawkin does not have the space to accommodate the storage of reusable bags for delivery orders.

ShopRite from Home customers can avoid the bag charge by placing a Pick Up order and specifying in the Comments Section that they will bring and use their own reusable bags to carry their groceries home.

ShopRite from Home customers who place a Pick Up order and do not specify in the Comments Section that they will bring and use their own reusable bags will be assessed a charge of $0.10 per bag.

Please note this same bag charge applies to in-store orders as well.
