You may have your brackets planned out for basketball season, but do you have your game day grub sorted? Read on to learn how you can set up the perfect appetizer spread to dig into while watching the game!
Choosing A Focus for Your Game Day Spread
Focus on 3-5 different kinds of cheeses so you and your guests can enjoy a little variety! You can mix it up by choosing a mix of firm and soft cheeses, mild and strong-flavored cheeses, as well as cheeses from different milk types, like cow or goat.
For Spice Lovers:
Think about the flavor combos you want to create for your guests. Do you and your friends like a little spice? Pair up spicy snacks like our Wholesome Pantry Sriracha Trail Mix or Tequila Lime Pumpkin Seeds with flavorful cheese like Hoffman’s Natural Cheeses in Organic Pepper Jack and Ghost Pepper Jack or Alouette Chipotle Cheddar and Ranch Cheddar Spreadable Cheese.
Add in some tortilla chips, some fresh guacamole, a few slices of smoked ham and you’re set!
For Pub-Style Snacking:
Maybe you and your friends aren’t big into spice, but love pairing your fav brews with your snacks.
Pair up beer cheese spreads like Merkt’s Craft beer Cheese Spreads or President Pub Cheese with soft pretzels, spicy mustard, almonds, apple slices and even hard pretzels for the ultimate pub-style experience!
A Few Tips:
How much cheese?
Plan for about 2 oz of each kind of cheese per guest.
So, if you have 4 different types of cheeses, and 8 guests, you’ll need 16 oz of each kind of cheese, and approximately 4 lbs in total.
Don’t serve cold cheese
Allow cheeses to come to room temperature so that the flavors have time to develop. Taking cheeses out of the fridge about 1 hour before your party starts will work.
