Celebrating our Hunger Fighting Heroes!
Celebrating our Hunger Fighting Heroes! Posted by ShopRite Team
Hunger is an issue that affects people in every community. The ShopRite Partners In Caring program was established in 1999 to support local hunger fighting agencies throughout the Northeast in communities served by ShopRite stores. The General Mills family of brands supports ShopRite Partners In Caring and also recognizes some of the hunger fighting heroes that are also going above and beyond to fight hunger in the communities where they live.

Spotlight #1: Vanessa Dunzik

Vanessa Dunzik started her pantry with a tiny space which gradually grew and eventually developed into a full state and local food pantry that serves 200 to 250 families a month and over 2,400 per year in New Brunswick. The pantry is operated under the auspices of Emanuel Community Development Corp, a 501C3, and is supported by the members of Emanuel Lutheran Church. Vanessa organized and developed this program, but she offers heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers and outside groups that help to make the program possible, including ShopRite of East Brunswick.

Spotlight #2: Noemi Ballester

Noemi Ballester works as the Community Engagement Specialist at Technology High School in Newark, but she goes above and beyond to help provide support and assistance to students in her school. She works effortlessly both during and after the work day, donating her time and money to help the students in as many ways as possible. She sacrifices many of her personal needs to ensure the students at her school have the food and supplies they need, often giving her personal food and resources to make sure everyone else is taken care of each day. Noemi also engages the students at her school to help the community - making hot meals for others in need. Her passion and dedication are truly inspiring.
